Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. It’s a time for family and friends, and good food. It’s the official beginning of the holiday season. It’s also the beginning of the shopping season. As more and more big retailers open their doors earlier in the morning the day after Thanksgiving, or in more extreme cases during Thanksgiving dinner, pay attention to the small businesses in your neighborhood.
This Saturday, November 30, is Small Business Saturday. Small Business Saturday is an initiative from American Express that asks consumers to shop small in the local mom and pop stores and dine in the local restaurants. Check here for participating merchants near you. And it is not too late to market your own small business. Check here for free marketing materials.
So once the turkey leftovers are gone and thoughts turn to holiday shopping please support your fellow small business owners.
